The Board of Management is entrusted, subject to such limitation as the by-law may provide, the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally owned lands, buildings and structures in the area (north Welland improvement area), beyond such improvement, beautification and maintenance as is provided at the expense of the municipality at large, and the promotion of the area as a business or shopping area.

Mark Melloni is the President and Owner of Urge to Purge Inc., which he founded in 2012. Since its inception Mark has won a number of awards for both himself as an entrepreneur and his business. In 2013 Urge to Purge was awarded “Business of the Year” at the Welland/Pelham Chamber of Commerce’s annual Ruby Awards. Along with that award Mark’s business also won the “Eco Action Award of Excellence”. Along with being a young entrepreneur, Mark is also a Director for the Welland/Pelham Chamber of Commerce, President of Networking Niagara, Chair for the Welland Home Show, and 2014 Campaign Chair for the United Way of South Niagara. In April of 2014 Mark was awarded a plaque from the City of Welland recognizing and thanking him for his community involvement.

Doug Watson is the co-owner of Online Electronics, a one stop electronics retail and service store.
The two partners first opened their doors 12 years ago, and during that time they have taken a small retail computer store and have grown it to the first complete LG product line store in Niagara. Further they have gone from a two man operation to a staff of 8 full time and 11 part time staff. In addition, this past August they made the move from a 1,500-square-foot retail space to a beautiful 4,000-square-foot showroom. Jeff and Doug have a very unique delivery system. They have a partnership with the Salvation Army to deliver their product. They do not charge the customer a delivery charge, and in turn make a charitable donation themselves to the Salvation Army.

Mark Carl has a strong business, management and marketing background with 4 years of experience on City Council. He is very familiar with the procedures of City Hall and City Council, as well as the current progress, issues and challenges of Welland.

During his time as a city councillor, Van Vliet has chaired several committees, including public works and tourism. He said he was instrumental in establishing inter-municipal transit for students.
Van Vliet has worked with several community organizations. He was a co-chair of the Niagara Food Festival, education director for the Canadian Institute of Management, president of Welland Volunteer Fire Co. No. 3 and a director with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Van Vliet has volunteered for the Welland Food Drive, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, as a coach for Treelawn Baseball and served as a warden at St. David’s Anglican Church.
