City of Welland Heritage Advisory Committee Appreciation Night

The City of Welland Heritage Advisory Committee will celebrate Welland’s culturally significant properties and pay tribute to the caretakers of these unique treasures at an Appreciation Event on Thursday September 28, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Community Room, Welland Civic Square.   The general public is cordially invited to attend.

Highlights of the Event include:

  • recognition and thanks for owners of properties in Welland designated under the Ontario Heritage Act
  •  launch of an exciting new Welland video that features a drone flyover of downtown Welland and highlights designated and  culturally significant properties throughout the City
  • unveiling of a new City of Welland Heritage Advisory Committee logo and banner.
  • a Power Point presentation covering over 160 years of Welland’s  history
  • launch of a new brochure, “Historic Tour of Welland” featuring both designated properties and properties/areas of historic interest in Welland

Keynote speaker for the evening will be Terry Hughes, whose topic will be “Welland’s Contribution to Heritage”.

The City of Welland Heritage Advisory Committee is a subcommittee of citizen volunteers appointed by the City to assist Council in administering the Ontario Heritage Act.  Our Committee identifies and works to protect buildings, properties and landscapes of cultural heritage value in Welland.
