This newly refurbished Centre is located on First Avenue off of Fitch Street on the grounds of Chippawa Park, well known for its fabulous rose gardens. This centre boasts a meeting room and community hall with fireplace and kitchenette. Available for rentals year round by contacting the City of Welland at [email protected].
Anyone driving along Woodlawn Road coming off the highway only needs to look to the north side of the street between the river and the old canal to know exactly where they are.
A large “Welcome to Welland” sign is now up and ready to greet the city’s incoming traffic and to let people know that they’re entering the Rose City.
The North Welland BIA funded the new sign in an attempt to spruce up one of the city’s main entranceways. The sign incorporates light blue, gold and white into its design.
The sign was built and installed by Heritage Sign Builders, with the help of Creative Signs, and took about a month to construct. Its design is based on a logo designed by former Niagara College student Colin Nunn. Nunn won a 2005 city-wide contest to create a Welland logo.
“It’s very important to welcome people to our city, so when they come in they know they are entering our great city,” said Dawn McInnis, Welland’s tourism development co-ordinator.
